Bastrop

We went to the lovely Lost Pines Resort in nearby Bastrop for a few days after Thanksgiving. It's very family friendly, it's relaxing, and they allow you to bring your dogs. Of course, the last time we went, we came back to our room after dinner to find that Gretchen had been put into dog jail for disturbing the peace, but that's another story.

We went for a lot of walks:

Did you know that sometimes you can find a stick when you're out walking?

It's true!

Gretchen and a snowy egret, aka: "The One That Got Away".

Fletcher pretty much only has one word that he can say, but it's a useful one.

We posed by the fire, but did not linger. Fletcher finds fire a little too fascinating for our comfort.

They had some interesting giant checkers/bongo drums in the activity room.

We went for a stroll on the lighted riverwalk, which was cool, but in no way could compete with...

...the greatest Christmas light show ever. Seriously, Austin folks, it's a half-hour show and totally worth the drive.

I tried to dress Fletcher so he would blend in with all the little Republican kids at the resort, but on the second day, he began to protest.

We fortified ourselves with a light breakfast at Maxine's on Main in downtown Bastrop. The waiter referred to Fletcher as "the little lady" twice. Time for a haircut?

We went for a final hike at Bastrop State Park - we've been there before.

Gretchen is in favor of Animal Control - and as soon as she sees some animals around here, she'll control them.

Looks like a beautiful place and a fun trip! I'm seriously considering the drive to see the disco xmas lights...
