New York, Part 2: Mother's Day

We started our Mother's Day festivities with breakfast at a diner - we don't have them back home in the Lone Star State.

Louisa chewed on a spoon - when we took her out of her carseat, we discovered that she had smuggled it out on her person.  Sorry, Mamaroneck Diner!

Right before we left Austin, we figured out that Louisa can now tolerate milk and soy protein...which meant that I got to have this for breakfast. Those are giant globs of mozzarella cheese under the eggs, yes, indeed.

Fletcher tried french toast for the first time. Carbs, butter, powdered sugar and syrup...go figure, he liked it.

Dallas celebrated my new-found ability to eat dairy by having this for breakfast. He's so supportive.

We had ordered some flowers for Grandma - Fletcher picked them out, in case it isn't clear. "They're so green, Mama!".

Chewing on Grandma's glasses case.

Kranshie is sporting the racecar shoes that Fletcher picked out for her at Target. The boy knows what he likes, that's for sure.

This is what you order for lunch when you haven't had dairy for six months. Hey, it was for the whole family to share.

Cheese calzone. Don't judge me.

We had a brief post lunch stroll and Fletcher made sure to stop and smell all the flowers we passed.

Seriously, all the flowers. "This one smells beautiful, Mama! You should smell it, too."
I love this boy so much.

We strolled for almost two whole blocks and found ourselves in front of an ice cream parlour.

Louisa played with balloons for the first time.

After lunch, Fletcher did some laps on his trike at the church playground.

Louisa made another desperate grab for my phone.

We celebrated our first anniversary with our good friends, Speedyman (red) and Bogaccio (blue). We acquired them on Mother's Day last year in Asciano, Italy. Most of the time, Bogaccio is Fletcher's absolute favorite car. She's the baby of the car family and has a somewhat sensitive disposition. Sometimes she cries when the other cars crash into each other too loudly; Fletcher gives her kisses and keeps her close to him until she feels better.
Also shown: Javion, Mini, and Purple Car.

Bogaccio, Speedyman, and the late, lamented Brown Car last year in Italy.

Happy Birthday, Bogaccio and Speedyman!
(And Happy Mother's Day to me, too!)
