A few weeks ago we hired a babysitter so we could go on a child-free date. We wanted to go to a benefit for the Barr Mansion, the events center where we were married. The Barr's barn/ballroom (where our reception was) was recently struck by lightning and burned down to the ground. The benefit was a fancy reception/dinner at another events center; we didn't consider bringing our toddler. And that's where we were wrong.
The benefit was held at the Exotic Game Ranch, which is owned by the landfill. Yeah, I don't get it either. What you need to know is that when you drive south out of town and follow the signs for the landfill, you turn left off the road and keep going past the gazelle, past the Oryx, and don't stop until you see the buffalo.

Then you turn into the parking lot...right by the rhino.
We also saw a few of these guys:
At first we didn't know what they were, but now we know that they are Patagonian Cavies and that they live at the end of the rainbow.
Worst of all, they had a family of giraffes...which only happen to be Fletcher's favorite animal ever.
We felt guilty, so we made some videos for him:
And just to make sure that this post isn't entirely Fletcher-free (I have a feeling there would be complaints from the g'parents), here are some shots of the boy enjoying the videos:
The clasped hands just kill me.

Thanks for setting the bar so high for bad parenting, now I can sleep easy. All your post needed was a lion named Mustafa.
