Halloween '11, Part 1

We kept Halloween pretty simple this year, what with having a new baby in the house and all that. So, no "Howl-O-Ween" party, but we did manage to get a few things done.

Fletcher painted a pumpkin for Baby K

We made pumpkin scones for breakfast. Fletcher's serving suggestion: while leaving the scone on your plate, scrape off all the sprinkles with your teeth. Refuse to eat the rest of the scone. Repeat as often as you can get away with it.

Not only did we have the "pumpkin I can sit on", but we also had one (painted white, naturally) that Fletcher's BFF, White Puppy, could sit on.

I think she really appreciated the sentiment.

We carved the giant pumpkin...

...but Fletcher wasn't very keen on the pumpkin slime...

...
...so he preferred to remove and replace the lid repeatedly...

...and to scrape at the outside shell with an ice cream scoop. Those are our puppet friends, Pumpkin and Lambie, hanging out with us, by the way.

The jack o' lantern face was based on a pumpkin ornament that Fletcher colored.

The finished product. What's that, you say? It doesn't appear to have a carved face? That's because the boy became distraught and needed the parts put back immediately.
