Bastrop 2010, Part 1

We went back to the Lost Pines Resort for a few days after Thanksgiving. The nice people there have
given a lot of thought to what toddlers like best.

Upon arrival, we immediately headed to the game room...

...and discovered Fletcher's new love, a game he calls "Eric Hockey", in honor of Simon's dad.

The point of the game is apparently to get the puck "down the drain".

We carried our good friends, School Bus and City Bus, with us wherever we went.

We also played a little B-ball.

Fletcher found an abandoned sparkly green necklace,  just waiting for a toddler to
appreciate it.
We went for a ride in a cart to meet the resort's mascots.

Fletcher was way more interested in the cart than in the giant animals staring us down. Just now,
he looked at this picture on my computer screen and began talking about "Mama and Fletcher
on a cart with wheels". Longhorn, what longhorn?

If he refuses to get off, eventually someone will start driving it around again, right?

What resort would be complete without goats? And not just any goats, mind you, but pygmy goats!
The Hyatt is really a top-class hotel, don't you think?

Don't even get me started about the bunny.

And for breakfast? Watermelon, of course.

Fletcher and his Dada consider the pros and cons of sitting on Santa's lap.

The geniuses who run Lost Pines apparently know that you get a better response from toddlers
if Santa sits in a giant cart with giant wheels instead of one of those stupid sleighs that you hear
so much about. Nonetheless, Fletcher's toy ambulance came with him for moral support.

Fletcher carefully applies paint to a snowman ornament.

And then comes the layer of "diamonds". Lots and lots of "diamonds".

Ta-dah!

And at the end of the day, they had a campfire with smores.  Toddler + fire + sticks + sweet,
sticky marshmallows = happy, happy boy.

Cold, but happy.

It was all so exciting that we had to call Simon and tell him all about it.
